Madhya Pradesh government increases bus passengers fairs
Exercising the powers vested in the Motor Vehicle Act, the Madhya Pradesh government has increased passenger fares of vehicles with effect from October 26. The hike has been effected in the fares of general vehicles, passenger bus service, deluxe vehicles and AC vehicles. A notification to this effect has been published in the State Gazette as well.
The fare for the first five kilometres for general transport buses will be Rs 5 per passenger and 80 paise per kilometre thereafter. This increase will not apply to the city transport buses.
Under the orders issued by the State Government, maximum hike in fares of various types of vehicles will be as follows:
Maximum increase is up to 10 percent for passenger bus night service, 25 percent for non-AC deluxe buses and up to 50 percent for AC buses.
It has been made clear by the government that night bus service charge will be applicable only to general transport vehicle service and not on deluxe or AC buses. Similarly, except for deluxe and AC buses, no additional fare can be charged from passengers of express bus service.
